PRINCIPLe AND OBJECTIVes

PRINCIPLE 1:

The Centrality of a Good and Provident God.

Objective : To develop a deep faith in God 

  1. Personal and group prayer to God whom she /he considers to be her/his loving, provident Father
  2. A deep inter- relationship with God that permeates her/his daily life and contact with others.
  3. Acceptance of and respect for all religions through dialogue, reading and assimilating values from different scriptures, and participating in and celebrating others’ festivals.
  4. Deepening and broadening of her/his religious convictions through catechism/ moral science classes, skits , the use of audio-visual aids, panels, and group discussion , etc. 

PRINCIPLES

The human Dignity of Each Person as an image of God.

Objective : To develop the full potential of each student

  1. Inclusion and respect for all ethnic and religious differences: caste, creed, culture, language, gender, socio- economic status, and intellectual abilities.
  2. Instilling of values counter- cultural to the world’s values of materialism, consumerism, pollution, wastage, etc. 
  3. Creating a culture of respect without distinction in all relationships.
  4. Giving opportunities for students to express themselves through speaking, writing, acting, debating, dramatics, elocution, extemporaneous speeches, dance, music, and artistic activities
  5. Encouraging students in their ongoing quest for knowledge through research, reference work, field trips, and intensive study.
  6. Inculcation of social virtues such as courtesy, refinement, responsibility, honesty, punctuality, obedience, loyalty, diligence, generosity, and modesty.
  7. Physical development through athletic exercise, sports and yoga.
  8. Affirmation of each child as being acceptable, good and lovable.
  9. Fostering of individual differences that enrich and strengthen others.

PRINCIPLE 3: The Notre Dame Educators as a Gospel Witness. Objective for teachers: To be effective, charismatic instructors/ conveyers of knowledge and gospel values Living out of their vocation joyfully and vibrantly. Relating to God in personal and communal prayer, drawing strength to meet all challenges. Sharing the ND heritage through faculty/ staff meeting, celebrations, and programmes. Preparing conscientiously for every class and activity assigned to them. Treating one another with care and compassion without compromising discipline and development of moral character Stressing the importance of witnessing to God’s goodness and provident care in their lives. Cultivating an awareness of nature and the environment and enjoying God’s creation in all its aspects. Taking them to make their teaching environment as beautiful, orderly, and clean as possible.

 

PRINCIPLE 4:

An integrated Education for Transformation.

Objective : To make students aware of the complex realities of the world and their response to them

  1. Offering opportunities to experiences solidarity with the poor and needy and an ecological consciousness on local and global levels.
  2. Incorporating justice, peace and environmental issues within the curriculum.
  3. Creating awareness of the inter- connectedness of the human family.
  4. Teaching Critical thinking, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  5. Solving conflicts through the use of mediation, counseling, and special programmes.
  6. Caring to Mother Earth by re-cycling and making wise choices about the use of energy, water, and the earth’s resources.
  7. Acquiring of the following thinking skills: observing, recording, quoting, illustrating, demonstrating, analyzing, outlin-ing, summarizing, integrating, and evaluating.
  8. Developing pride in the cultural and national heritage of India
